About the artist
Artist background
Born and art educated in NYC, Betsy grew up with a mother as an artist and began at a very young age exploring her creative calling. She graduated with a BA in Art Education from Queens College and studied at The Art Student League of NYC. Self-described as having happy feet, Betsy has lived in NY, CO, WA, OR and settled in Hawaii 30 years ago. She has owned art galleries in NY, Telluride, CO, and Seattle, WA as well as exhibiting her own art in over 20 galleries and juried shows including one woman shows.
Betsy has received two 1st first place awards and two 2nd place awards and several honorable mentions with a 1st place at the Mauna Lani Summer Arts Fest in Kohala, HI and recently a 1st place at the AHA Contemporary Show 2020 on Oahu. Betsy has enjoyed over 15 years of teaching art in NY and on the Big Island. While living in Hilo she decided to further her education and obtained a MA in Expressive Arts Therapy and a MEd in School Counseling where she continued working in schools for the next 13 years.
